The Rifugio Lavaredo is located at the foot of the famous Tre Cime di Lavaredo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Rifugio Lavaredo was built in 1954 by the mountain guide Francesco Corte Colò “Mazzetta”, a pioneer of mountain rescue in the Tre Cime di Lavaredo since the early 1950s and one of the founders of the Auronzo Mountain Rescue Service. Thanks to its favorable location, it is an excellent approach point for most of the ascents to the Lavaredo Peaks, which have been attracting climbers and hikers from around the world for their majestic and spectacular walls since the mid-19th century.
The Rifugio offers stunning views and the opportunity to visit the area through the trails, via ferratas and World War I walkways. It is also a location for rescue and helicopter rescue operations.
